Nutrisystem Week 10: Flex!

OH MY GOSH.  The busy just swallowed me up this week and then spit me out.  Just now.  I'm a big slimy spit ball rolling over to my laptop to type this entry an entire week late.  It is shameful.

All of the free time I was using to type freaking cover letters and perfect my resume?  Well, it turns out those soul-sucking tasks finally paid off.  Yesterday, I accepted an offer for a full-time position starting the first week in May.  After I asked the important questions, like, do I have to wear pantyhose?  And,  can I wear peep toe shoes?  I was scrambling around to figure out childcare before I accepted.

My mighty, about to be gainfully employed again, bicep.
And my hairy armpit.  Shaving?  Ain't nobody got time for that.

In addition to having a stellar week employment-wise, I had another stellar Nutrisystem week.  I think I missed my vegetable goal once and my water goal once.  In the past, the stress of interviewing and waiting for a call and negotiating an offer and waiting again?  Would have sent me straight to a pile of nachos and cheese to calm my nerves.  I can tell you with 100% honesty that I wasn't tempted to cheat and did not cheat at all.  Big change for me!

I have been working out like crazy (which is a synonym for the exercise program I'm doing, IfYouKnowWhatIMean) and seeing big changes in my body.  The scale is slowing down but who cares about that, really.  I'm almost half way through this 60 workout and I am feeling so strong.  I probably couldn't kick your ass or anything but I could probably do like 15 moving pushups.  So yay.

Ten weeks of Nutrisystem and I've had a loss every single week.  I think that's is freaking fantastic!

My Progress So Far:
Week 1: -2.4
Week 2: -3.8
Week 3: -1
Week 4: -1.8
Month 1 Total: 9 pounds lost!
Week 5: -.4
Week 6: -2.2
Week 7: -1.4
Week 8: -.4
Month 2 Total: 13.4 pounds lost!
Week 9: -.6
Week 10: -.6
Total: 14.6 Pounds!
I only have six weeks left in the Nutrisystem Nation Blogging Program  and my goal of losing twenty pounds is looking totally feasible.  I am already trying to plan my transition off of Nutrisystem by making lists of meals and recipes for every meal.

If you have healthy snack ideas, please post them in the comments!  Snacks are difficult for me, as is breakfast.  I'm always accepting suggestions!

I just started working out and my sister in law gave me good snack idea....apples and peanut butter. I live on that now. Also, you can get grapefruit cups from costco. I eat one of those for breakfast!

I agree - skinnytaste has some fantastic recipes. This week I'm trying her healthy oatmeal shake and baked oatmeal with blueberries and bananas. Otherwise, eggs and cinnamon raison Ezekiel bread are our breakfasts of choice in this house. Congrats on the new job!

Congratulations on the new job & continued success on NutriSystem!

Can't wait for more work stories (not that kids and weight loss aren't awesome), you have a way of relating work stuff that never fails to crack me up. :)

Great work!

I just discovered the most awesome snack. I don't really measure, so play around with this. Mix together about 1/2 cup non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, a teaspoon of honey, and just a bit of cinnamon. Dip apples in it. Then, if you're like me and still have some left over after dipping the apple slices, eat the rest with your finger because it is so damn good. Or, you know, stick it in the fridge for later.

a piece of fruit and i use almond butter instead of peanut butter. i think it might be the same calorie wise but supposed to be healthier. I dip carrots, celery, cauliflower in salsa. a mini babybel cheese and some fruit or veggies. If I want something sweet I have a weight watchers desert. Congrats on your weight loss success and your new job!

A heaping spoonful of peanut butter, some cooked and cooled quinoa, honey or sugar, heaping tablespoon of chia seeds. Mix together and eat. I suppose you could eat it with apples or something. I usually use a spoon. I bet you could make it without sugar, but I like the texture of the sugar granules in the mix.

I take all my fruits and vegetables and divide them up into serving sizes in their own little baggie. Much easier to grab for lunches/snacks when I can open my fridge and just grab a bag out. (I do this with other foods as well, causes less cheating this way.)

Peanut butter (the natural kind) is actually good for you when you keep it to 1-2 TB a day...a little tip, melted PB goes much further and you can "drizzle" it on anything. I choose bananas and pineapplw (dont knock it until you try it!)

Low fat string cheese, handful of almonds, protein bars (balance brand: yogurt honey peanut is delish), fruit, veggies all make good snacks.

Breakfast, I usually buy the egg whites from the store and the jimmy dean turkey sausage patties. Mix those together. You can add spinach and peppers too if you like that sort of things.

I also get Beverly brand whey protein. Its decent priced and has a cookies and cream flavor that is to die for! It is good plain, or I mix it in my fruit for fruit smoothies. I buy strawberries and bluberries and place them in bags in the freezer individually for smoothies.

No carbs after 2pm, and the carbs you do eat should be the good ones. Learn to like whole wheat pasta. Sweet potatoes. Brown rice. Quinoa.

Good luck!

I make all of my own granola bars, without sugar. There are tons of good recipes online. I also just recently fell in love with grapes and jello. You rinse the grapes and mix them with the jello powder (sugar-free jello mix only). I found this on pinterest and it really is so sweet and only about 60 calories a cup. It's great for those times that I'm craving something sweet. I use sparkpeople for recipes. They have several very healthy good ones!
