Nutrisystem Week 8: Being Nice to Myself

I am half way done with my 16 week Nutrisystem program!  I can't believe it has been two months since I started.  It is working so well for me and I am so excited for these next two months.  I have a real shot of getting beyond my goal.  Which seemed quite impossible just a few months ago.

Since this is my halfway point, I took a picture to get a look at my progress.  When I initially snapped the picture I just felt horrible about how it looked and I started to get really down on myself.  And then I went back to my Before pictures.

And then I decided that I am kicking freaking ass and that I need to be nice to myself.  I've come a long way.

I've been going back and forth about posting this picture.  Because a lot of people that I know in real life see this, and I am totally embarrassed about how I look.  It is so much easier for strangers to read about my feeeeelllllinnnngggssss and see my enormous stretch-marked stomach but when I people I know read it?  The.freaking.worst.

But then also, I've done my fair share of searching for before/after fitness pictures that made me feel like I had a shot of looking normal again.  So I'm going to post it.  Here it is:

I'm dying inside just knowing that you are looking at this.

1. Those are the same clothes in both pictures.  They are so much longer because there is less area to cover!

2. I got these results by using the Nutrisystem Women's SUCCESS Select plan for eight weeks and exercising for 30-60 minutes a day, 3-5 days per week.  I even have some teeny weeny arm muscles!

3. I swear that I am not sucking it in or anything at all.

4. My stretch marks are colorless now so yay for that!

5. My phone camera lens is super scratched HOLY HELL.

This week I did cheat again.  I ate Easter dinner at my mom's.  I convinced myself that I would just have 2 ounces of turkey and some vegetables. LOLFOREVER.  I had those but also I ate All Of The Stuffing That Ever Stuffing-ed.  And then I felt horrible afterward and chugged a bunch of water to make up for it.

I did still manage a loss though - another .4 pounds gonzo!

My Progress So Far:

Week 1: -2.4
Week 2: -3.8
Week 3: -1
Week 4: -1.8
Month 1 Total: 9 pounds lost!
Week 5: -.4
Week 6: -2.2
Week 7: -1.4
Week 8: -.4
Halfway Mark Loss Total: 13.4 Pounds!

I took measurements at the beginning but haven't gotten around to doing that again.  I'll do that this week though!

It seems like my legs and my arms have gotten the Be Normal Memo.  My stomach?  Mmmm not so much.  It is by far my biggest challenge - it sticks out and has weird lumps and bumps and is super weak.  I still have no pants that fit right and any that I try on look all crazy on me.  But.  BUT!  I'm trying to be nicer to myself and just keep working because I've come pretty far in two months.

I'm really hoping to exceed my goal by the end of my Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Program, but if I haven't I am seriously going to continue with one of the transition programs.  Dinners on my own, maybe?  I don't know.  I will decide when I get there.  But I really love the program and I am still so grateful to be included.  Thank you thank you thank you Nutrisystem!

You look great! I could never share a picture like that but really, that's what sells me on a program. I've been trying to kill myself with insanity workouts yet again... Ouch. Kudos to you!

You look AMAZING! I'm now kicking myself for not taking my own "before" pictures so that I could see the progress I've made, not just on a scale..the thought of photographing my fat self was too scary though! Kudos to you!

I'm also de-lurking to tell you how terrific you look! It takes serious bizzalls to post before pics (hell it would take balls for me to TAKE a before pic), so big ups to you. I can't wait to see you in two more months. Keep it up!

Re: the weird stomach thing. After big babies or multiples, diastasis recti can become sort of permanent. It is when your stomach never come back together post-birth. They can be at wonky angles with a ridge down the center of your belly. You can obviously google this, but you can check to see if you have it by laying flat on your back and slightly lifting your head then poking your stomach to see if you can feel a gap between your center muscles. Symptoms would be things like really weak core muscles, back pain, some abdominal pain. There are some exercises that supposedly help bring them back together but sometimes surgery is an option too.

I'm no doctor, but have been on the diastasis train for a few years now and your 1st pic looks suspiciously like diastasis to me. Might want to just mention it next time you are at the doc!

You look amazingly awesomely great! And I think it's awesome that you posted these pix to maybe help other people out. I know that seeing them is really inspiring me to work a little bit harder in watching my portions and working out more often. So thanks!

Holy freaking crap girl - you look amazing! 13+ lbs is awesome and it looks like about 30!

You look awesome! Great job- that's a lot of dedication right there.

You look so great! Definitely worth checking for diastasis because you are post-partum, but the pic looks amazing. After my second pregnancy (9lb9oz kiddo) it has taken nearly 2 years to get my stomach back, but it was worth it.

Fantastic! I kinda wish I had the guts to do a before picture, but just NO. I've been doing the body reset diet and while I can feel my clothes are looser, I am afraid to get on the scale. I don't want it to show that I have lost a mere 1 pound or something or I will be so disheartened. Tomorrow night I'm going to do it though, and see how much weight I've lost so far. All the best to you!

That's only 13 lbs?!?!?!? Clearly you're losing it in all the right places. Jealous. Awesome job!

STOP IT! You look great! So healthy and gorgeous.

I don't know where you live (I'm not THAT much of a stalker) but if you are relatively in the NH, MA area I would love to offer you a free photoshoot. I want you to see how gorgeous you are RIGHT THIS SECOND. Not in another 13 pounds. Not next year. Right now.

You are one of the few bloggers I have followed for as long as I have, and I cannot stress how amazing I think you are! So stop being a bitch to yourself and start being nice :)

Posting pics of yourself like this on the internet? PROUD OF YOU. That's ballsy and hard and you rock.

Your girls are pretty adorbs too :)

This is one of a hundred comments. I haven't commented before because I don't have anything useful to say, really. You've been through so much. But this...I just have to say that you are brave, and stronger than anyone I have ever met in real life, and you look absolutely amazing.
I think that nothing I could say would make you see how incredible you are, or how badass those pictures are. You were beautiful in the before, you will always be beautiful in the after.
Also...hot. Sexy mama. Kick ass self empowerment. All that. But honestly, you have made a huge difference in your own life, you have made a huge difference in your body, and you are making a difference for all of you readers. Rock on, girl.

Wow, I'm so impressed by your before and after pics!
I struggled a lot to lose my post-twin weight (my "before" picture looked very similar to yours ... I still do not look anything like your "after" picture though even after getting to 10 lbs below pre-pg weight!). This is very inspiring and I love that NutriSystem has worked so well for you!
